Many educational classes are offered each year, including certification programs, management and maintenance training, multifamily career development training and free informational sessions.

Certification Programs & Courses 

Residential Property Management Training
These five property management classes are specifically designed for rental owners who manage their own properties and for apartment community directors. The training covers the entire cycle of property management, from marketing your rental to ending the tenancy of your renter. Forms-based training includes step-by-step instructions on how to use CAA forms. Students who enroll in all five classes receive a 500+ page binder of course materials.

California Certified Residential Manager Designation Series (CCRM)
This professional designation has proven itself in the California multi-family rental housing industry. The CCRM series of nine classes includes preparing the property for market, move-in process, rent collections and notices, ending the tenancy, professional skill for supervisors, fair housing and ethics. The tenth week is the CCRM final exam. If you have not yet taken advantage of this great training program, find out what you’ve been missing.

Boot Camp Classes
"Leasing Boot Camp" for new employees and seasoned veterans, this all-day seminar covers fair housing, basics of real estate law, successful leasing techniques, the financial impact of resident retention, and tips for a successful career in multi-family management.

"Maintenance Boot Camp" is a 3-hour property management seminar for new hires and veteran customer service staff. Learn the financial impact of resident turnover, basic landlord-tenant legal issues, and Fair Housing Laws that impact our industry. Students receive a completion certificate for fair housing training.

Maintenance Training
The Rental Housing Association of Sacramento Valley offers maintenance training for both new and seasoned employees. These “How-to” maintenance classes are taught by skilled professionals. Such education trains maintenance employees and rental owners to perform basic maintenance duties at apartments, single-family homes, condos, duplexes, and other types of rental housing.

Each class focuses upon a specific subject. For each subject, students will learn how to identify basic parts, how they operate, and how to troubleshoot common problems. Participants can apply what they learn quickly, and the savings in maintenance costs will more than pay for the cost of training.

*NEW Nuts & Bolts of Property Maintenance - Maintenance For the Rest of Us
Learn what you need to know to ask your residents the right questions when they call in a service request. Help you maintenance specialists by knowing just enough about plumbing, electrical and air conditioning equipment to write a great work order, to send the right person with the right tools, or even to help your residents resolve a problem on their own.

“How-To” Seminars
Seminars that provide in-depth training on specific topics, such as complying with fair housing laws, processing evictions, conducting walk-thru inspections, and processing security deposits correctly.

Annual Legal Seminar
This annual seminar provides a comprehensive update on new landlord/tenant laws, government regulations and court decisions. Offered each year beginning in December.

Annual Tax Seminar
This annual seminar provides an update on changes in tax laws and tips on reducing your tax liability.

Complying with City of Sacramento Rental Housing Inspection Program 
RHA's newest class is offered to assist rental property owners understand and comply with the new City of Sacramento inspection ordinance.

Legal Q & A Sessions
During these free group sessions, experienced attorneys provide answers to general questions about landlord/tenant law. Usually held once a month.
