Campaign to Prevent Discrimination Offers Free Fair Housing Training

In a regional campaign to prevent discrimination against tenants, the Rental Housing Association (RHA) is working with local governments and fair housing advocacy organizations to offer free training for rental owners and property managers. The free, two-hour seminars will explain federal and state fair housing laws as well as the most common forms of rental housing discrimination.

Topics presented during the seminar include steering, occupancy standards, disability discrimination, reasonable accommodations, hostile housing environment, medical marijuana, use of criminal history in tenant screening, and written tenant screening criteria.

The training is supported by the following local governments and non-profit organizations: Renters Helpline, Sacramento Self-Help Housing, Rental Housing Association, Project Sentinel, Legal Services of Northern California, HUD Fair Housing Initiative Program, County of Sacramento, City of Sacramento, City of Citrus Heights, City of Elk Grove, City of Rancho Cordova, City of West Sacramento, and Sacramento Housing & Redevelopment Agency (SHRA).
